After several months of use and abuse, the trailer was back in for a tune-up. All items except #4 were addressed in this tune-up.
1) Linette Ring was too low for trucks
The New Ring connector is to be set 3 inches above the previous height. The Connector was attached to a 1/2-inch steel plate used to extend the connector mount. To accommodate for changes in the stresses of towing, 3/4" thick support braces were added to the top of the extended plate. The Connector was bolted to the backing plates to accommodate two positions for towing (one inch and three inches) above the previous height.
2) Separations appeared between the frame and the fender (pronounced on the passenger side)
Stresses that bent the jack were also responsible for fender and frame separation. Fender welds broke loose due to stress and foreign material, seeping into the space between the fender and frame. The broken welds were repaired and a filler bar was inserted to accommodate the space between the frame and the fender.
3) Top frame (tongue forks) separated from deck frame.
A patch fix was applied to the top weld, This requires a few deck boards to be removed to access the other welds (to be competedat at later date.
4) Jack bent to the left
The Jack is bend due to lateral stresses. The old leaf connections will be cut back to accommodate a new 1/2 inch backing plate. The jack will be welded to the new backing plate.
